This! Is! Spartha!

My copy of the Kings of War hardback rulebook dropped through the door today. It is 144 pages of high-quality wargamery goodness containing the complete rules and army lists for Dwarfs, Elves, Kingdoms of Men, Abyssal Dwarfs, Goblins, Orcs, Twilight Kin and Undead.

There’s a full campaign world setting as well, just for good measure. Mantica is your typical (but very well done, complete with complex history) faux-European fantasy setting that contains all of the tropes you’d expect of a faux-European fantasy setting. Including Spartha. What’s not to love?

Here’s the map of Mantica to drool over.

Expect a full review of Kings of War real soon. Meantime you can grab a free copy of the 32-page rulebook (All the rules but none of the setting! Less filling!) if you want to read along. That, a load of d6s and some minis from anywhere (unlike a Certain Other Game Company, Mantic Games aren’t picky about you only using their minis) and you have everything you need to start playing.

I rather like it, and hope you do too.
