Gruff the Bermuda Shorts wearing Chaos Broo Barbarian

I’m pretty sure this is the only picture of a Chaos Broo wearing Bermuda Shorts on the whole of the Internet, though I’ll be happy to be proven wrong. The world needs more fashionable Broos.

Creating a Chaos Broo in 4e D&D is easy – just use the racial stats for an Orc and file the name off. With +2 STR, +2 CON, +2 to speed when Charging and Warrior’s Surge once per Encounter they feel more Brooish than Orcish to me anyhow.

With that in mind, here’s the stats for dude pictured above. Gruff is a hulking great goat-headed Chaos Broo whose hobbies include flower arranging and pulling the heads off halflings.

In combat his main tactic is to begin by using the Bloodcraze Power of his enchanted Greataxe then move and attack with Bloodhunt Rage for 3d12+1d6+6 against his first opponent. If that drops the poor mook to 0hp he follows in the same round with a Swift Charging Howling Strike against the next foe within 10 squares (!!!) for 1d12+2d6+9 damage. That’s round one. The next round he’s still at +1d6 damage (and +3 due to Rage)so he’ll use Great Cleave, Blade Sweep or Warrior’s Surge as required. When he’s burnt through his Encounter Powers he’ll use Devastating Strike or charge more distant foes (ie, those fleeing the scene of carnage) with Howling Strike.

Did I mention that his Greataxe is a High Crit weapon too, so on a natural 20 he’ll do 1d12+2d6+42 damage with his Bloodhunt Rage – an average of 55 damage (and max of 66) with a single blow. And (thanks to the Rampage class ability) he gets to make an additional Basic Melee Attack too! Ouchie.

If he needs to break from combat and spend a Healing Surge he’ll use his Bermuda Shorts of Scintillation (yeah baby!) to daze surrounding foes before moving away. Useful things, Bermuda Shorts.

With training in Athletics, Endurance and Nature this is one Broo who is well attuned to the physical world, and an asset to any party both in combat and out. His Stonebreaker Utility Power is perfect for Chaos Broos everywhere – it’s a headbutt charge which will splinter wooden doors into a thousand tiny pieces. Nice.

He’s not without faults, of course. His Armour Class, Ref and Will saves aren’t good at all, and his Perception skill is way down there at +0. Maybe he needs glasses.

Only one question remains – where did he get those shorts?!!??!
