Thesaurize your character today

Back in the good old days of Classic D&D when the world was young and character classes were simpler things, I once gave my players a simple instruction. I tossed Roget’s Thesaurus at them (literally), and told them to generate a character but they had to rename the class using the thesaurus. This gave us a party made up of Cedric the Parson, Urun the Boxer and Pete the Picaro – which was much more flavourful than Cedric the Cleric, Urun the Fighter and Pete the Rogue!

With 4e D&D’s we’re at an exciting point. Unlike Third Edition, there’s few classes currently available – just those in the PHB and the handful previewed in Dragon and Wizards’ own site – so now is a great time to crack open the Thesaurus again and rename your class to something with a little more zing. Do it quick before all the synonyms get taken as the names of new Character Classes!

I’ve done the heavy lifting for you. Here’s a handful of synonyms for each of 4e’s Core Classes, straight from The list for the Warlord class makes me really want to play one now :).
