Comments on PpppickupAPppblog: Cheers, thanks for that. Works a treat…

And now you just need to figure out how to get all the comments in the right place too ;) Coz otherwise it’s no fun. That’s what makes a blog in the first place – the discussions.

But so far it’s been working out fine.
I hope the comments issues are solved as well. You forgot to mention that ;) Hope it’s loading the wrong image for the captcha and that removing it will mend that error. It’s upsetting people when your blog tells them that they are spammers…LOL

But yea…it would be good to get away from the database server if possible. It’s really a hassel and nothing else since it tend to go down rather often at Epfarms.

And the header in here looks a heckova lot better ;) Thank you for removing that horrible blue colour :p

I know you guys are really busy, but I need help with an auto backup script for my, MYSQL Databases.

I found a few scripts, but they don’t go into detail and explain what all the code does/means.

I know if anyone can, you can…

You came to the right place by coming here, Roy. I’ve not had chance to update for a while :( Soon, I promise.

To backup mysql databases the main thing you need is a command-line….errr….command, called mysqldump.

The simplest command is:

 mysqldump -h yourhost -u username --password=mypassword test > test.mysql

This will dump all of the test database into a file called test.mysql. Just replace yourhost, username, mypassword and the name of your database.

A lot of scripts are based around that one command.

Alternatively, take a look at phpmyadmin. That should cover all your db admin needs :)
