A few days ago we took a walk along the Five Pits Trail. It’s a network of paths that link old coal mines that have now been converted to nature reserves. Their new life as places of beauty is a far cry from their harsh industrial heritage, and a testament to the resilience of nature, and the skills of the people who’ve made this possible.

Many of the old paths follow the routes of the old mine railways, so the paths are long, straight and are surrounded by culverts or trees. Perfect for a spot of shady walking, jogging or horse-riding. Along the way we passed joggers, cyclists and fields of horses – hence the horsey pics earlier this week.

I shot stuff (photographically speaking) and quite a few turned out ok, so I’ll keep posting one a day until something else comes along, ok?
